SOLICITATION OF CANDIDATES FOR
Editor in Chief

The Schizophrenia International Research Society (SIRS) will launch a new, open access journal in 2014. SIRS is now seeking candidates for Editor-in-Chief of the journal. Candidates must be a SIRS member, or must be willing join the Society, and should have an international reputation for research that will help attract submissions to the journal. The Editor will report to the SIRS Board of Directors through the Publications Committee.


Desired characteristics of candidates include:


- internationally recognized as an expert in schizophrenia research
- evidence of outstanding writing and editorial skills
- a commitment to open access publishing
- the ability to recruit submissions of quality papers and authors
- awareness of the social and ethical responsibilities associated with this position
- previous editorial experience
- an ability to recruit highly qualified Field Editors, Editorial Board members and manuscript reviewers
- management skills necessary to establish and enforce journal policies and to oversee journal operations
- an understanding and appreciation of electronic manuscript submission, review and tracking systems
- a lack of significant financial conflicts that could compromise execution of editorial responsibilities
- the ability to devote the time necessary to ensure the success of the journal

SIRS seeks to appoint an Editor-in-Chief in time to be announced at the SIRS meeting in Florence, Italy in April, 2014. - a letter of commitment describing interest in, and qualifications for, the position, and ideas for the successful organization and operation of the journal
